Twitter Litter

Yep, that's right. I said it. Twitter litter. And it's a problem. If I hear one more person crowing about how many followers they have, or login to my twitter account to see nothing but irrelevant, spammy, inane message, I think I might go postal.

And I'm not the only one. Just like EVERYTHING you do online, the key to it having an possibility of working towards your bottom line is "RELEVANCE". If you ain't got it, you ain't gonna get nothing.

To quote the Social Media Today blog: It does not matter how many followers your business has if you cannot engage with this community and show measurable results from your activity. The getting followers quickly schemes are like a fad diet, they will work in the short term but will yield marginal if any sustainable results.

'Nuff said.

I am bothered more by people promoting things like the Twitter Traffic Machine than I am people tweeting about how many followers they have.

I wish people would understand that Twitter is a community that should involve two way communication.

Hey Margie... not even a week out of the USF course and I couldn't bear not learning more from you :P

The temptation is high for new Twitterers to automatically reciprocate the follow for Twitter Litterers.

I quickly learned to filter these folks out and concentrate on the gems in my Twitter stream.

bigpictureweb.com is cookin' right along. I can't wait to learn SEO from Jay starting next week. Hope all is well!
